Vascular surgery is a surgical specialty that is dedicated to the treatment of conditions affecting blood vessels including arteries, veins and the lymphatic system. Some of the common vascular conditions treated include aortic aneurysms, stroke and mini strokes from carotid artery narrowing, poor leg circulation and varicose veins. The vascular surgeon is well trained to offer complete therapy such as patient counseling, medical treatment, minimal invasive balloon angioplasty, stenting of arteries and veins as well as reconstructive vascular surgery.
Having completed a MSc in Genetics at UWO, followed by a Medical Degree at Queens University and General Surgery residency at the McMaster University, Dr. Gowing was fortunate to obtain opportunities to continue his training in Vascular Surgery through McMaster University, Sunnybrook Hospital and Stanford University. Having trained in Canada and U.S. medical systems, with large volumes of open, standard, advanced, endovascular and percutaneous procedures, Dr. Gowing can offer patients specific experience in endovascular aortic surgery, endovenous laser ablation, as well as open surgical bypass and endovascular treatment of vascular disease.
Dr. Gowing practices in all aspects of vascular surgery including medical, surgical and endovascular management of arterial and venous disorders. Dr. Gowing was trained by some of the earliest endovenous laser ablation practitioners at McMaster, expanding his experience through both Canadian and US exposure. Dr. Gowing has extensive experience in endovenous laser ablation offering his patients state-of-the art management of their veins including laser and state of the art advanced medical adhesive treatments.
Appointments are made from a referral from physician that is faxed to the office.
The doctor will be notified of the appointment and patients will be notified by the referring physician.

Physicians that would like a vascular surgical consultation performed on their patients, are required to Fax a detailed referral letter outlining clinical indications, patient symptoms, demographics, any prior medical imaging and pertinent medical history.
